Américo inaugurates National Guard facilities in Ciudad Mier, Tamaulipas, to strengthen regional security.

Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, accompanied by the Commander of the National Guard, General Hernán Cortés Hernández, inaugurated the facilities of the 12th Battalion. Three companies and a housing unit of the National Guard in this city. The goal is to strengthen institutional capacity and reinforce the presence of the force to provide greater public safety to the people of Tamaulipas in this region of the state, Ciudad Mier.

At the beginning of his public safety tour in Ciudad Mier, together with Mayor Adriana Hinojosa Ibáñez and National Guard commanders, the governor of Tamaulipas recognized the efforts and contributions of this force. He reiterated that, from this corner of the country, Tamaulipas will continue to do its part to contribute to the objectives of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s security strategy.

“From this corner of the homeland, we are working to do our part in a policy where Mexican humanism prevails, in a policy where the State is regaining the trust of its citizens and, therefore, there is a participatory and collaborative society that can ensure the well-being of all and that no one is left out. The inauguration of these National Guard facilities in Mier is part of an operational deployment aimed at protecting our population and our communities in this region, while also allowing us to carry out the joint binational work that our border requires,” he added.

For his part, General Ignacio Murillo Rodríguez, territorial coordinator of the Gulf Region National Guard, acknowledged that these spaces will allow National Guard members to fully perform their operational, administrative, and training functions. At the same time, they will strengthen close ties with society, contributing to the construction of safer communities.

“These facilities represent much more than infrastructure; they are a tangible reflection of the joint effort between society and government to guarantee the safety, tranquility, and well-being of the people of Tamaulipas,” he stated.

He added: “We recognize and thank those who made this achievement possible: the authorities of all three levels of government, our National Guard leaders, and civil society, whose trust is the driving force and reason for our work.”

After the formal ceremony, the governor gave an extensive tour of the new complex. It includes, among other spaces, a command office and administrative area, a 25-meter flagpole, male and female accommodations, an academy hall, a dining hall for 400 people, a helipad, a firing range, and a machine room. There are also five three-story residential buildings and a parking lot with 107 spaces.

Also present on behalf of the National Guard were Jesús Adolfo Amparán Hernández, coordinator of the National Guard in Tamaulipas. Milton Carlos Pantaleón Rocha, commander of the 12th Battalion of the National Guard; and Julio César Téllez López, commander of the 25th Cavalry Regiment.

Also in attendance were Carlos Arturo Pancardo Escudero, Secretary of Public Security; Pedro Cepeda Anaya, Secretary of Public Works; Ramiro Cortés Barrera, mayor of Miguel Alemán; and the mayors of Camargo, Ernestina Perales Ortiz; of Nueva Ciudad Guerrero, Laura Peña Martínez; and Nataly García, of Gustavo Díaz Ordaz.
