The National Security Strategy shows progress in Sinaloa with a 51 percent drop in homicides and the arrival of thousands of cruise ship tourists.

Within the framework of the National Security Strategy spearheaded by President Claudia Sheinbaum, Sinaloa has become one of the states with the greatest progress, with results reflected in the decrease in violence and the consolidation of tourism, particularly in Mazatlán, where there has been an upswing in cruise ship arrivals.

The President emphasized that ensuring peace in Sinaloa is a permanent priority; therefore, she instructed the Security Cabinet to visit the state every two weeks to oversee the coordinated efforts between the three levels of government.

Measurable progress in crime reduction

Among the most notable achievements is the 51 percent decrease in intentional homicides from June 1 to August 26 of this year. This indicator confirms that intelligence and coordination efforts are generating a tangible change in the state.

Likewise, the “Zero Auto Theft” plan has had immediate results. In the first 48 days of operation, thefts decreased by 55 percent on the Mexico-Querétaro highway, 50 percent on the Mexico-Puebla highway, and 46 percent on the Mazatlán-Culiacán highway.

Growing Tourism and Citizen Confidence

Security has also had a direct impact on the economy. Mazatlán has received 66 cruise ships with 245,000 passengers so far this year, generating an economic impact of 384 million pesos.

This growth in tourism, primarily from domestic and international visitors, reflects travelers’ confidence in the destination, consolidating the port as one of the must-see stops on the Mexican Pacific.

During the “Mañanera del Pueblo” (People’s Morning Show), broadcast from the National Palace, an informative video was presented showing how progress in Sinaloa is responding to the constant presence of federal and state authorities.

The message was clear: the Government of the Republic will maintain security as a priority, ensuring that progress in Sinaloa translates into lasting peace for its residents and confidence for investors and tourists.
