Crash in Durango leaves one person dead and one injured

Two people were involved in a tragic traffic accident last night in the city of Durango, which left one person dead and a 14-year-old boy seriously injured. The incident occurred in a residential neighborhood in the capital.

The incident occurred shortly before 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of Camino a La Loma and Pico de Clarabide streets, within the Pirineos neighborhood. According to reports, the accident occurred when a blue and black Italika VM motorcycle collided with a black Ford Escape pickup truck.

As a result of the collision, Darío Ascensión Flores Mijares, 29, of the Viñedos neighborhood, died at the scene. His 14-year-old passenger was seriously injured and taken to General Hospital 450, where his condition is reported as critical.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Juan Francisco, 34, a resident of the Pirineos neighborhood, was arrested by traffic police and handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office to determine his legal status.

Meanwhile, personnel from the Forensic Services Directorate of the State Attorney General’s Office conducted the corresponding investigations and ordered the transfer of the victim’s body to the Forensic Medical Service for a legal autopsy.

With this death, the number of motorcycle accident deaths in the city of Durango has risen to 10 in August and to 80 so far this year.
