Tlaxcala went from being one of the states with the lowest motorcycle fleet in 1980, with only 352 registered units, to having 104,973 in 2024, representing a growth of 29.722%, the highest in the entire country, according to data analyst Monserrat and figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

This increase places the state in a prominent position nationally, although not among the top states in terms of motorcycle volume. Currently, Tlaxcala has a motorcycle registration rate of 73.4 per thousand inhabitants, above the national average of 67.7.

In total, Mexico registered 8,953,446 motorcycles in 2024. Campeche, Quintana Roo, Colima, and Yucatán top the list of states with the highest motorcycle registration rate per thousand inhabitants.

In contrast, in 1980 the national rate was just 4.1, with Tlaxcala at the bottom of the list with only 0.6 motorcycles per thousand inhabitants. In that year, Yucatán, Colima, and Quintana Roo led the way in this type of transportation, although at considerably lower rates compared to today.
