In an atmosphere of peace, joy, and patriotic fervor that filled the historic center of Morelia with color, thousands of families enjoyed the traditional parade commemorating the beginning of Mexico’s Independence Day, led by Mayor Alfonso Martínez Alcázar.

Along Madero Avenue, from Villalongín Plaza to the Lázaro Cárdenas Monument, women, men, girls, boys, and seniors filled the sidewalks and terraces from early morning to watch the parade.

In this colorful setting, Alfonso Martínez began the parade, receiving greetings, cheers, and taking cell phone photos from those attending this ceremony, which commemorates the 215th anniversary of Mexico’s Independence Day.

Accompanied by members of the City Council, officials and Cabinet members, and the municipal escort, the mayor led the parade and opened the way for participants from elementary schools, distance learning high schools, private institutions, and the Michoacan University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo, as well as groups from the National Guard, Civil Guard, and Morelia Police, who marched aboard patrol cars and motorcycles.

At the end of the parade, the mounted military group and groups of charros (charro dancers) closed the ceremony aboard colorful horses that galloped down Madero Avenue, carrying the riders dressed in hats, boots, and attire appropriate for the celebration.
