On September 16, the 2025 Civic-Military Parade took place in Constitution Plaza, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, in her capacity as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to commemorate the 215th anniversary of the beginning of the struggle for Mexican Independence.
By presidential order, Major General Francisco Jesús Leano Jeda, current commander of the Mexican Army, was appointed as Commander of the Parade Column. The military leader marched in front of the presidium aboard a plain, brown, Mexican-made armored vehicle, followed by his General Staff and units of the Mexican Air Force, Navy, and National Guard in Mexican-designed vehicles with distinctive color schemes.
Before the start of the military parade, and in accordance with military ceremonial regulations, honors were paid to President Claudia Sheinbaum, who delivered a message to the nation.
In her speech, the president recalled the memory of the heroes of Independence, such as Miguel Hidalgo, José María Morelos, Leona Vicario, Gertrudis Bocanegra, and Vicente Guerrero, emphasizing that their ideals of freedom, justice, and sovereignty remain alive.
“Independence gave us a homeland; transformation ensures our future. Sovereignty means that no foreign power decides for us, and that every Mexican has the right to live with justice and dignity,” she stated.
