News anchor Débora Estrella, 43, was one of the two fatalities in the plane crash that occurred Saturday afternoon at the Mitras Industrial Park in García, Nuevo León.
Born on August 7, 1982, in Monterrey, Estrella began her career in media at Frecuencia Tec, a radio program run by ITESM (University of Mexico City), where she studied law. She later moved to television at TV Azteca Noreste, where she served as a weather anchor for Info7 and later was part of Hechos AM in Mexico City, replacing renowned journalists such as Edith Serrano and Hannia Novell.
In 2016, she returned to Monterrey to join Milenio Televisión, where she hosted morning newscasts and collaborated with Noticias 22 in Los Angeles. Since 2018, she has established herself as one of Multimedios Televisión’s most beloved figures, hosting the Morning News alongside Josué Becerra and Sandra Sandoval, in addition to appearing on programs on Milenio Televisión and Channel 6 in Mexico City.
This is her business career and her passions
In addition to her presence in the media, Débora Estrella also worked in the corporate world at companies such as PepsiCo, Grupo Lomex, and Sigma. Personally, she defined herself as passionate about horses and called herself “Horse Girl,” an experience she claimed had changed her life.
Estrella was married for 10 years to journalist José Luis García, a former reporter for Televisa, with whom she shared a 15-year relationship until their separation in 2020.
The host was active on social media.
Active on social media, she shared aspects of her personal and professional life with her followers. Hours before the crash of the aircraft registered XB-BGH, she posted a photo of the plane she was traveling in on her stories.
The death of Débora Estrella leaves a deep void in Monterrey journalism and the television community, where she will be remembered for her professionalism, charisma, and closeness to her audience.
