A vehicle collision occurred on the Acapulco-Zihuatanejo federal highway this Sunday night around 7:00 p.m., resulting in the preliminary death toll of five people and 20 injuries.
The state Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection reported that brigades from the agency responded to the scene of the accident, which occurred near the municipality of Coyuca de Benítez, in the Costa Grande region, when a passenger bus collided with a van.
Twenty people were reported injured and five were killed.
Municipal Civil Protection personnel from Coyuca de Benítez acted as first responders on the scene, coordinating immediate relief efforts, with the participation of civil protection personnel from Atoyac and Tecpan, as well as the Red Cross.
State and federal agencies jointly joined in the efforts to provide care, transport the injured, and secure the area.
The state government expressed its solidarity with the families of those affected and expressed its commitment to providing the necessary support.
