Officers from the Hidalgo Public Security Secretariat dismantled a cell of foreigners involved in extortion and bank robbery in the Pachuca metropolitan area.

An emergency call was received in which an elderly woman requested police assistance after being approached at a shopping mall by a woman with a foreign accent who tricked her into extorting her bank card.

After the incident, the suspect fled in a vehicle, so the video surveillance system was activated and officers launched a search and rescue operation. The group of alleged criminals was caught on the old highway to La Paz.

During the vehicle search, it was determined that four people were traveling: one identified by the initials O.H., of Mexican origin, while the others, G.V.R. and N.M.U., of Peruvian nationality, as well as C.R.R., of Venezuelan origin, were also detained.

The alleged criminals were subsequently placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry agent to determine their legal status and continue the corresponding investigations. The head of the agency, Salvador Cruz Neri, stated that ongoing actions are being taken against criminal acts reported in the state.

It is worth noting that, in recent days, several foreigners have been arrested for similar crimes. Just this week, another criminal cell made up of citizens of Cuban origin was deactivated.
