The resort, designed by Mexican architect Andrés Cajiga, has received an award in the Readers’ Choice category, consolidating its position as a benchmark in luxury hospitality: Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets.
The Mexican Caribbean confirms its leadership in ultra-luxury hospitality with a new international recognition: the Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets hotel has been named Best Hotel in the Mexican Caribbean in the Readers’ Choice category of the MexBest 2025 Awards, considered one of the most influential industry awards in Mexico.
The award is especially significant as it is the result of a public vote, reflecting the preference of travelers and professionals for a resort that has successfully combined design, sustainability, and exclusivity.
The resort’s design is the work of Mexican architect Andrés Cajiga, co-founder of Alia with Antonio de Juan, hospitality expert and president of Talentchef. His intervention transformed a pre-existing structure—popularly known on Isla Mujeres as “the abandoned hotel”—into a contemporary sanctuary of luxury and sustainability.
The decision to reuse the existing building, rather than opt for demolition, significantly reduced the project’s environmental impact. The result is a resort with 125 luxury suites, private pools, personalized butler service, and organic architecture that connects with the natural environment. Its design incorporates local materials, solar panels, water purification systems, and practices that position it as a model of regenerative tourism in the region.
“That readers and travelers themselves recognize us as the best hotel in the Mexican Caribbean is a source of immense pride,” says Cajiga. “This award confirms that architecture conceived with emotion, sustainability, and respect for the environment not only lives on, but also remains in the memories of those who visit us.”
A globally award-winning resort
This new award follows other recent recognitions, such as the “World’s Most Instagrammable Hotel” award for 2024 and 2025, awarded by Luxury Travel Advisor, making Impression Isla Mujeres an unprecedented phenomenon in luxury hospitality.
With this triumph at the MexBest 2025 Awards, the resort consolidates the Mexican Caribbean’s position as the epicenter of global design and hospitality.
