The state’s Secretary of Tourism, Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, led the inauguration of the third National Pinchos and Tapas Competition in Mexico and the second edition of the Tapas Competition of the Americas, which bring together chefs from Mexico, the Americas, and Spain in a meeting of creativity, tradition, and culinary innovation.

During the event, the official emphasized that gastronomy is a universal language that shares identity, culture, and history, and that these competitions not only showcase culinary talent but also build bridges between regions and countries. She thanked the authorities of Valladolid, Spain, and the competition director, Eva García Cuervo, for consolidating Querétaro as the host of this international gathering.

Within this framework, Vega announced that ticket sales will begin next Monday, September 29th, for the direct Madrid-Querétaro flight with Iberojet, opening new opportunities for tourism and strengthening the cultural and gastronomic ties between Spain and Mexico. Furthermore, the winners of both contests will receive a ticket to compete in the world competition in Valladolid.

The ceremony was attended by authorities and industry representatives, such as the Head of Promotion for the Ministry of Tourism of the Spanish Embassy in Mexico, Begoña Fernández; the Secretary of Tourism for the municipality of Querétaro, Mariana Ortiz Cabrera; chef Mikel Alonso, president of the jury; as well as leaders of CANIRAC and the Wine Cluster. With this, Querétaro reaffirms its commitment to promoting gastronomy as a pillar of its tourism and cultural offerings.
