The United States created a platform that will facilitate the exchange of information on suspicious packages and air cargo with the goal of halting drug, arms, and fuel trafficking.

In a statement, the State Department reported that the strategy will be implemented within the framework of the Border Security and Law Enforcement Cooperation Program, “an unprecedented collaboration.”

“At Mexico’s request, the United States has created a secure platform, the first of its kind, to enable the exchange of information on suspicious packages and air cargo with the goal of identifying and intercepting illicit drugs, chemical precursors, firearms, and illicit fuels,” it stated.

The strategies, it added, will be implemented in anticipation of generating greater capabilities to act against and destroy cartels.
The bilateral agreement was finalized during the September 3 visit of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who met with President Claudia Sheinbaum.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) reported this morning that the creation of a working group for the prevention of fuel theft was also outlined in this first dialogue.

This group, it added, is an essential measure to halt the actions of transnational criminal organizations, interrupting the funding they receive from various sources.

Furthermore, US authorities emphasized their commitment to “intensify inspections and coordination with Mexico to stop the flow of firearms southward.”

“The United States and Mexico are embarking on a new chapter of security cooperation based on shared interests for a more secure and prosperous region,” it stated.

La SRE informó esta mañana que en este primer diálogo también se perfiló la creación de un grupo de trabajo para la prevención del huachicol.
