With their colorful outfits and exaggerated costumes, the famous “panzudos” (big-bellied) people said goodbye this year, dancing for the last time in the church square, marking one of the most anticipated moments for those attending.
Gunpowder lit up the night with the traditional burning of bulls, while the sky sparkled and the atmosphere filled with jubilation.
The castle, with its wheels and fiery crowns, was the climax of the evening, drawing applause and exclamations of emotion.
The church bells chimed in as a reminder that the celebration is not just a celebration, but also a devotion and tradition that is renewed year after year.
The town closed the day with a popular dance that brought together entire families, visitors, and the faithful, in a single expression of identity and culture.
Thus, amidst dance, fire, and music, San Cristóbal bid farewell to its Virgin of La Merced, guardian and reason for celebration, until next year.
