This morning, Chankanaab Park experienced a true sporting celebration with the 13th edition of the AsTri Cozumel 2025 Triathlon, which brought together 1,100 national and international athletes, consolidating the island as one of the country’s leading sports tourism destinations.

Juanita Alonso Marrufo, General Director of the Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation (FPMC), was present at the start and at the awards ceremony for the event’s winners.

In the context of World Tourism Day, commemorated this September 27th, she emphasized that Cozumel reaffirms its position as the “Island of Sport,” a favorite destination for high-performance athletes and visitors who find the island an ideal place to practice these disciplines.

He also highlighted the support of Governor Mara Lezama, who promotes these events within the framework of the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, strengthening the local economy and sports tourism, especially during the off-season.

In the elite women’s category, the winner was Marcela Álvarez Solís, with a time of 1:06:15; Ana María Valentina Torres Gómez in second place with a time of 1:08:15; and third place went to Cozumel native Faride Guadalupe Achach Sleme, with an official time of 1:14:35.

Meanwhile, in the elite men’s category, Dilan Campa Carranza took first place with a time of 56.44, followed by Osvaldo Darrel Zúñiga Fierro in second place with 57.08, and Alfredo Miguel Rodríguez Figueroa in third place with a time of 57.29.

The course included the sprint distance, consisting of a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer bike ride, and a 5-kilometer run, a challenge that made Chankanaab the perfect setting for the triathletes’ effort, passion, and discipline.

Also present at the event were Jacobo Arzate Hop, President of the Quintana Roo Sports Commission, who represented Governor Mara Lezama; Pablo Aguilar Torres, representative of the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council in Cozumel; Isela Valenzuela, representative of the Island’s Hotel Association; Daniela Ayala Blanco, representing Municipal President José Luis Chacón Méndez; and Erick Canul Be, Municipal Sports Director.

With the 13th edition of the AsTri Triathlon, Cozumel reaffirms itself as a world-class sports venue that strengthens the island’s image and contributes to the destination’s economic and tourism impact.
