The Ministry of National Defense reinforced security in Baja California, Chihuahua, and Guanajuato on September 27 with the deployment of 270 Special Forces Corps personnel as part of the National Public Security Strategy.
The personnel departed at 2:40 p.m. from Military Air Base No. 19 in Mexico City aboard two National Guard Boeing 727 heavy transport aircraft, along with a ground convoy.
Air Reinforcements in Tijuana and Ciudad Juárez
A company of 90 personnel was deployed to the General Abelardo L. Rodríguez International Airport in Tijuana, Baja California, while another company with the same number of personnel arrived at the Abraham González International Airport in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua.
Land Company Heading to Guanajuato
Additionally, a company of 90 soldiers departed in 12 personnel transport vehicles from the Special Forces Corps facilities in Temamatla, State of Mexico, bound for the state of Guanajuato.
Objective: Strengthen security and public peace
The deployment will be added to the ongoing operations of the Army, Air Force, and National Guard in the 2nd, 5th, and 16th Military Zones, responsible for jurisdiction in these entities.
According to Sedena, the mission of these units is to assist authorities from all three levels of government to strengthen the rule of law, deter criminal acts, and contribute to the preservation of public order and peace for the benefit of the population.
