Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta enthusiastically celebrated the arrival of Pokémon GO City Safari for the first time in Quintana Roo/Cancún and the second time in Mexico. This international event positions the city as a destination for digital tourism, technological innovation, and unique cultural experiences.

On September 27 and 28, thanks to the collaboration of the Municipal Tourism Secretariat and Niantic, the developer of Pokémon Go, thousands of local, national, and international players toured nine of the city’s most iconic locations: Terminal ADO, Playa Langosta, Parque de las Palapas, Marina Puerto Cancún, Plaza La Isla, Parque Kabah, Playa Fórum, Malecón Tajamar, and Playa Delfines, blending the Caribbean essence with the interactive magic of the Pokémon universe.

The experience included region-exclusive Pokémon, life-size statues of iconic game characters like Eevee, Pikachu visors, collectible stamp rallies, meet-ups with influencers and gaming communities, and themed spaces designed to immortalize the adventure in photographs and on social media. Furthermore, thanks to the collaboration with strategic partners, discounts were offered on hotels, transportation, and local businesses, also boosting Cancun’s tourism, economic growth, and hospitality.

By sharing a venue with only four cities in the world—Amsterdam, Valencia, Vancouver, and Bangkok—Cancún reaffirms its position as a modern, diverse, and cutting-edge destination, which stands out not only for its dreamy beaches but also for its ability to embrace innovative and global experiences.

With initiatives like this, Ana Paty Peralta consolidates her vision of a city that evolves and opens up to the future, supporting projects that connect traditional tourism with technology and digital culture. Cancún not only welcomes visitors, it inspires them to live unforgettable experiences.
