After last week’s massive blackout, the power outage continues to affect Yucatecans, with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) unable to resolve the power outage.
This Monday, street blockades were reported in various parts of the Yucatecan capital to demand that the CFE restore power.
In the Emiliano Zapata Sur neighborhood, residents closed streets after several days without power.
They reported that, despite constant reports, CFE personnel failed to respond to resolve the outage.
The closure of 86th Avenue disrupted traffic, including Vaivén system units; businesses were also affected by the power outage.
Around noon, a CFE crew arrived to check the damaged transformer, but residents remain at the scene and warned that they will not leave until the power is restored.
Likewise, residents of downtown Mérida blocked 65A Street at Itzaes Avenue because they have been without power for several days.
They stated that they will maintain the closure until the CFE restores the power supply.
In the Yucalpetén neighborhood, west of the Yucatecan capital, families have been without power for three days due to a downed power line.
They stated that the power outage began last Friday around 2:30 p.m. and immediately filed a report with the CFE; however, the problem has not been resolved as of Monday.
Therefore, they have kept 124C Street closed, next to the offices of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP).
