A literary gathering that celebrates and gives voice to women writers, with a special emphasis on the work of women from Sinaloa, will take place at the VI International Poetry Festival “Women in Literature,” which will be held in the Multipurpose Room of the Casa del Marino.
The event is at 5:00 p.m. on October 17th at the Casa del Marino Museum.
This festival brings together the poetic voices of women from around the world and has established itself as a space for cultural exchange and recognition of women’s literary creation. In this edition, participants born in Sinaloa will play a central role, reading their own texts and representing the literary wealth of the state.
The event is coordinated by Mazatlan writer Karina Castillo, a cultural promoter and manager with extensive experience in teaching, literary creation, and poetry. Castillo holds a Master’s degree in Education, a Bachelor’s degree in Law, and a PhD in Education. She also has a prolific body of work that includes the books Anzuelos de la memoria (Anzuelos de la memoria), Andrómeda (Andromeda), and Güebsait (Güebsait).
The festival is coordinated in collaboration with the Center for Women’s Studies, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and the National Academy of History and Geography of UNAM (ANHG). It also features international poet Beatriz Saavedra, director of this literary event.
The VI International Poetry Festival “Women in Literature” represents an effort to make visible and disseminate women’s poetic creations and highlights both established authors and new voices seeking to break into the literary world.
With the support of the Municipal Institute of Culture, this event reaffirms Mazatlán’s commitment as a city that breathes art and literature, and joins the international network of spaces dedicated to the written word.
