Bisbee’s, the renowned Los Cabos sportfishing tournament, will debut a tournament outside of Baja California Sur (BCS) for the first time in 2026, with its first edition in Costa Rica.

The Bisbee’s tournament currently has three categories: the “small” competition, Bisbee’s Offshore, the Bisbee’s Black and Blue, the most important of the year, and the Bisbee’s East Cape.

However, a Costa Rican edition was recently announced for April 14, 2026, specifically to the waters of Quepos in the Marina Pez Vela. The organizing committee, headed by Clicerio Mercado, emphasizes that this tournament merges a 44-year legacy with one of the most prolific billfish destinations on the planet.

Furthermore, they project a high participation rate of boats: “The tournament was announced on Tuesday morning, and by 3 p.m. we already had 9 boats registered and paid. Now, if you visit the website, you’ll see that there are more than 55 boats registered and paid. The expectation is for 100 boats,” Mercado said.

He added that the goal is for this tournament to also become established in South America, providing a different experience for fishermen, who are also many of the participants who come to Los Cabos year after year to compete.
