With the firm intention of showcasing the cultural, historical, and artistic richness of Zacatecas to the world, the State Government, led by Governor David Monreal Ávila, produced a promotional video for the 2025 Zacatecas Day of the Dead Festival. This video seeks to showcase the grandeur of the state’s traditions during one of Mexico’s most representative festivals.
Thanks to the support of Sara Hernández de Monreal, Honorary President of the State System for the Integral Development of the Family (SEDIF), this initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy to rescue, preserve, and disseminate the state’s intangible heritage, showing how death is honored in Zacatecas with life, color, and art.
The audiovisual production tours different municipalities in the state and features two catrinas, the quintessential symbol of the Day of the Dead, representing Zacatecas and Veracruz, the latter being the guest state of the festival. Through them, a visual dialogue is woven between two cultures that share a vision of remembering loved ones with joy, respect, and a deep identity.
The video was filmed in various emblematic locations that encompass history, beauty, and tradition, including the majestic Ex-Hacienda “Las Mercedes” in Bracho; the charming Jardín Principal de Jerez, where colonial architecture comes alive; the imposing “La Quemada” Archaeological Site in Villanueva, with its ancestral echoes; and key locations in Zacatecas’s Historic Center, such as the Cathedral Basilica, the traditional Gorditas restaurant “Doña Julia,” the Rafael Coronel Museum, the Fernando Calderón Theater, and the Guadalupe Museum.
Each of these spaces was chosen for its cultural and symbolic value, and together, they create a visual journey that invites you to rediscover Zacatecas from its deepest essence.
The video also highlights the human talent that brings our traditions to life. The production featured folkloric ballets, musicians, dancers, models, and local artists who, with passion and dedication, contributed their creativity to shape this visual proposal, which will be disseminated nationally and internationally as a presentation letter for the 2025 Zacatecas Day of the Dead Festival.
This audiovisual production has multiple objectives: to promote Zacatecas as a cultural and tourist destination, foster pride in local traditions, promote the state’s artistic talent, and strengthen cultural ties with other states in the country, such as Veracruz.
Furthermore, it seeks to connect emotionally with the public, sparking interest in experiencing an authentic experience where memory, art, and tradition merge into a single message: in Zacatecas, death is not mourned, it is celebrated.
With this video, the Government of Zacatecas reaffirms its commitment to culture, tourism, and identity, positioning the state as a benchmark for Day of the Dead celebrations.
Very soon, this production will be officially unveiled and will be part of the festival’s awareness campaign, inviting locals and visitors alike to join this celebration filled with color, music, and tradition.
