At a meeting in Congress, she denounced the war crimes and called for them to be tried in The Hague.

“There must be full accountability”: Nadya Rasheed
During a meeting with the Mexico-Palestine Friendship Group, the Palestinian ambassador to Mexico, Nadya Rasheed, called on the international community to impose an immediate arms embargo and economic sanctions against Israel until the complete withdrawal from the occupied territories is achieved.

“There must be full accountability for every actor who made this genocide possible. There must be an immediate arms embargo on Israel, economic sanctions until the complete withdrawal from the occupied territories, and freedom for the more than 10,000 Palestinian political prisoners,” she emphasized.

The diplomat emphasized that war crimes must be tried at The Hague tribunal, regardless of which powerful nation opposes them, and warned that peace will not last without justice and transparency.

Ambassador Rasheed noted that the US-backed peace agreement represents a “fragile peace,” after reporting that seven more Palestinians were killed this Tuesday.

“This genocide has exposed a world that preaches justice while funding oppression,” said the diplomat, who emphasized that ending the genocide is not enough; impunity must also end.

Rasheed recalled that in 2023, images of Palestinian children pleading for help and a ceasefire were released, and reflected on the human cost of the conflict:

“Two years later, I ask myself: how many of those children are no longer here, who didn’t make it to this fragile moment of what they call peace? How many died believing that the world would respond to their call?”

The Palestinian representative maintained that her people are approaching the recent agreement with caution, after decades of unfulfilled promises.

“Today, when we talk about peace, we must also talk about accountability and transparency,” she stated.

She also called for free access to Gaza for the international press and the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid, noting that the blockade has left thousands of families without food or basic services.

At the same meeting, members of the Global Sumud Flotilla asked Congress to designate a Mexican diplomatic representation in Palestine, a country already officially recognized by the Mexican State.

They also proposed creating a legislative committee to verify the delivery of humanitarian aid and the progress of the peace process, and even consider severing diplomatic relations with Israel.

The event, led by Morena members José Narro Céspedes and Gabriela Jiménez Godoy, also included the participation of PT member José Luis Sánchez González, who affirmed that the ceasefire does not absolve Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or US President Donald Trump of responsibility.

“If Mexico broke relations with Franco’s Spain; with the fascist Pinochet (in Chile); with Dina Boluarte, who took the presidency of Peru by storm; and with Noboa (Ecuador), all the more reason to break relations with a monster who has not only his hands and face stained with blood, but his entire body, and even his soul and heart,” he said amid shouts of “break, break, relations with Israel!”
