The Secretariat of the Navy, through the Mexican Navy, reports that as part of the implementation of the Navy Plan in various states across the country, an airlift with naval units was established to deliver medicines, medical supplies, and bottled water to the population affected by the meteorological phenomena.
In this context, the ARM Logistics Support Vessel “Isla Holbox” set sail this morning from the Third Naval Region, based in Dos Bocas, Tabasco, with 90 personnel on board, in support of the Emergency Response Brigades, with approximately 60 tons of food, medical supplies, tents, cots, an IMEMSA-type boat, seven backhoes, one ton of excavation material, and 116 water tanks. The project, totaling approximately 58.8 tons of material and equipment (approximately 120 tons in total), is intended to provide support to the population of the state of Veracruz, thus forming the third maritime bridge constructed during the current Navy Plan.
It is worth noting that, after assessing the affected areas, isolated communities were identified between El Higo, Ilamatlán, Zontecomatlán, Texcatepec, Zacualpan, and Ixhuatlán de Madero, resulting in a total of 46 isolated communities that have been divided into three operational sectors. This isolation is being overcome through the airlift, for which seven helicopters have been deployed, delivering a total of 428 food parcels, 3,418 liters of water, and 3,800 kilos of medicine and medical supplies. These operations are accompanied by Zodiac-type vessels, in riverine operations that complement the effort and maintain the proximity of naval personnel to the vulnerable and isolated population.
In a historic record of inter-institutional coordination, in conjunction with IMSS-Bienestar, approximately 18 tons of medicines and medical supplies have been mobilized and delivered to the population at established health centers.
Overall, the flights in the states of Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo, and San Luis Potosí have consisted of 51 humanitarian aid transports, 31 in support of the population, 15 reconnaissance flights, and five medical evacuations.
It is worth noting that, through airlifts, approximately 18 tons of medicines and medical supplies, 60 tons of food supplies, and almost 7,000 liters of bottled water have been delivered to the population.
