The combination of a low-pressure zone with cyclonic potential in the South Pacific and cold front number 7 will generate heavy rain, hail, gusty winds, and intense cold in various states across the country, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) reported.

Where will it rain?

During Thursday night and early Friday morning, very heavy rains are expected in Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Chiapas, while in states such as Veracruz, Tabasco, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo, heavy rains will be accompanied by thunderstorms and possible hail.

On Friday, October 17, the low-pressure zone off the coast of Oaxaca will continue to generate intense rainfall in the south, as well as high waves of up to 3.5 meters on the Pacific coast.

North and central parts of the country: cold and windy

Cold front 7 will advance through the north of the country, bringing with it a drop in temperature, especially during the early morning hours, with freezing temperatures in high-altitude areas of Chihuahua, Durango, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, and the State of Mexico.

Wind gusts of up to 60 km/h are also forecast in Baja California, Sonora, and the northern Gulf of California, with the possible formation of whirlwinds in parts of Chihuahua and Coahuila.

⚠️ What to expect in Michoacán?

Heavy rains in coastal areas.

Showers with possible lightning strikes in central and northern parts of the state.

High waves on Michoacán beaches, especially during the night and early morning hours.

Possible hail in mountainous and urban areas.

These conditions could lead to flash flooding, landslides in mountainous areas, and traffic disruptions.

🧊 Cold at dawn in highland areas

Cold to very cold conditions are also expected in highland areas of the state during the early hours of Friday morning, with possible fog and frost in rural areas of Tierra Caliente, the Purépecha Plateau, and eastern Michoacán.

A low-pressure area with cyclonic potential off the coast of Oaxaca will bring very heavy rains to southern and southeastern states, as well as adverse conditions in other areas of the country.
