Hoteliers in southern Tamaulipas demand increased surveillance

Hotel industry leaders emphasized that Tampico has once again ranked among the safest cities in the country, a recognition they say boosts the arrival of domestic and international visitors, said Sergio Jorge Marón Ceja, president of the Southern Tamaulipas Hotel Association.

The association’s representative indicated that they are promoting this achievement with state authorities in tourism promotion campaigns, as they believe safety is a key factor in strengthening the destination’s image. “Tampico not only has natural and cultural attractions, but also the advantage of being a safe harbor, as confirmed by the latest INEGI measurements,” he noted.

Marón Ceja called on state authorities to continue recruiting more State Guard members and strengthen surveillance operations, especially in high-traffic areas.

“It’s an incentive, and we have to show it off. Who wants to go to a place that isn’t safe? We’ve had good indicators for many years, and now that we’re back in the Top 3, we must highlight it,” the leader stated.

He added that the sector has requested increased security patrols, especially in the city’s first district, in order to maintain the positive public perception. “We’re asking for more personnel and more patrols to continue maintaining this level of tranquility,” he concluded.
