During a special operation implemented to prevent risks associated with so-called “Ride of Terror,” authorities in Jalisco arrested 35 people and seized 135 motorcycles, as well as a UTV (Ultra-Highway Razer). The operation took place in various municipalities within the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area with the support of state, federal, and military agencies.
The operation involved personnel from the State Traffic Police, the C5 Jalisco Security Command, the State Preventive Police, the Metropolitan Police, the National Guard, and the Mexican Army.
According to authorities, intelligence units detected a concentration of motorcyclists in Guadalajara starting Thursday night, where 15 motorcycles were seized from riders who were not wearing helmets or possessing the required documentation.
The operation reached its peak on the night of Friday, October 31, with groups of motorcyclists performing dangerous maneuvers in Guadalajara, Zapopan, and Tonalá, resulting in numerous arrests.
In Tonalá, more than 40 motorcycles were impounded and 10 people were arrested for disturbing the peace.
During the early hours of Saturday, new groups of people were identified on Juan Gil Preciado Avenue, Calandrias Avenue, and in the vicinity of the Minerva Roundabout via the C5 Escudo Jalisco surveillance cameras. More than 60 motorcycles and a UTV (a type of off-road vehicle) were removed, and 12 people were arrested.
Simultaneously, the Saving Lives program reinforced its sobriety checkpoints at various locations throughout the metropolitan area, resulting in the arrest of 13 people for driving under the influence and the impounding of 13 vehicles.
The Jalisco Traffic Police acknowledged the joint efforts of state and federal agencies and reiterated their commitment to maintaining security and public order, with a constant presence on the streets to prevent accidents and vandalism during the celebrations.
