The Government of Tamaulipas is carrying out concrete actions and has a clear vision and commitment to continue strengthening urban and territorial development, environmental sustainability, and orderly and sustainable urban planning, stated Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya. As part of this effort, the expansion of bypasses and the construction of a second level on Avenida Hidalgo are being promoted.

The governor emphasized that, through the urban and territorial development plans for each of our regions and municipalities, actions are being implemented to promote highway growth and the improvement and expansion of roads, thus providing better opportunities for social justice.

He added that Tamaulipas is one of the states that has dedicated the most land to environmental conservation, with 22% of its territory designated as nature reserves.

This includes the large El Cielo Biosphere Reserve, Laguna Madre, and many other areas where sustainability is protected and environmental restoration is encouraged, such as mangrove planting and the cleaning and restoration of riverbanks and canyons near urban areas.

In her remarks, Karina Lizeth Saldívar Lartigue, head of the Secretariat of Urban Development and the Environment (Seduma), stated that in Tamaulipas, under the leadership of Governor Américo Villarreal, the decision was made to manage urban growth with a human-centered approach, based on planning, data, and empathy, taking into account the opinions of specialists, academics, and, above all, the citizens themselves.

“Because growth is not just about erecting buildings or opening avenues; growth is about guaranteeing well-being, security, and opportunities,” she said.

In presenting the actions being carried out through the Tamaulipas State Program for Sustainable Urban Development, the Municipal Programs for Territorial Planning and Urban Development, and the Comprehensive Plan for Sustainable Urban Mobility, the head of Seduma reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to continue working with technical rigor, open dialogue, and collaboration with each municipality.

“Organizing, caring for, and planning our cities is not a task for a single day or a single administration; it is a generational pact. And today, here, from Paseo Méndez, I tell you with conviction that Tamaulipas is already moving in that direction, because Tamaulipas is transforming itself with vision, with participation, and with responsibility,” he affirmed.
