Flights from Puerto Vallarta to England will not resume until at least 2027.

Direct flights from England to Puerto Vallarta operated by TUI will not resume in the short term, a fact reaffirmed at the World Travel Market 2025 in London, where the state of Jalisco participated.

While Jalisco received 13,496 visitors from Europe in 2024, 24 percent of whom came from the British market, flights to Puerto Vallarta from London and Manchester, which had begun in 2014, have ceased.

In this regard, Luis Antonio Villaseñor Velasco, director of the destination’s Tourism Trust, reported that TUI restructured its flights to shorter routes to be more profitable. As a result, operations to Cuba, Costa Rica, and Puerto Vallarta were suspended, and efforts were focused on Mediterranean destinations such as Turkey and Tunisia.

“So what we’re hoping for is a change in the market situation. We don’t know if it will happen next year, but we hope that perhaps within two years, flights from England to Puerto Vallarta will resume,” meaning by 2027.

The situation is also due to the lack of new aircraft available, which is affecting the industry internationally and has forced airlines to lease planes to meet their commitments.

At the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, the Jalisco Ministry of Tourism was part of the Mexican delegation during the event held between November 4 and 6. There, they strengthened ties with key operators, presented their comprehensive tourism offerings, and explored new collaborative routes with the British market and other countries in the region—efforts primarily focused on directly benefiting the Guadalajara metropolitan area.

The event featured approximately 5,000 exhibitors from around 180 countries and regions.

The Jalisco delegation held 121 business meetings with international wholesale agencies such as Voyage Privé, Lotus Group, Dnata, Sunwing Vacation Group, eDreams, Original Travel, Steppes Travel, Journey Latin America and Rainbow Tours.
