More than 8,000 international visitors arrived in Mazatlán this Wednesday aboard the cruise ships “Nieuw Amsterdam,” “Norwegian Jade,” and “Carnival Panorama.”
The visitors are taking advantage of their stay in the port to stroll through the Historic Center, along the beaches, the Malecón (boardwalk), and the Golden Zone, as well as to explore attractions and points of interest such as the Cliff Diver, the Pino Suárez Market, the Cathedral, and the Plazuela Machado, among others.
The Secretary of Tourism for Sinaloa, Mireya Sosa Osuna, noted that having three cruise ships arrive on the same day represents a significant impact on the local economy.
“We are very pleased with the economic benefits they bring to the port, because they not only come to Mazatlán, but also to the Pueblos Herencias (Historic Towns) like Copala, La Noria, and Concordia, where they generate economic activity for the surrounding towns with a tourism focus in Mazatlán,” she stated.
The three cruise ships arrived from Puerto Vallarta. The “Nieuw Amsterdam” with 2,034 passengers and 854 crew members; the “Norwegian Jade” with 2,311 passengers and 1,018 crew members; and the “Carnival Panorama” with 4,261 passengers and 1,413 crew members.
The “Norwegian Bliss” is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, Thursday.
As of Wednesday, November 12, Mazatlán has received 88 cruise ships with more than 320,000 visitors and an economic impact exceeding 486 million pesos.
