Mexican businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego, owner of the Grupo Salinas conglomerate and the TV Azteca television network, met with the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, during a visit to the Central American country.
It was through the social media platform X that Salinas Pliego praised the Salvadoran president, asserting that he is a “true captain who knows how to navigate.”
“Today I am in the beautiful and safe country of El Salvador, with my friend @nayibbukele (Nayib Bukele), a true captain who knows how to navigate all seas and deliver results; unlike the inept and corrupt government officials we have in Mexico,” Salinas Pliego wrote.
The businessman shared that during their meeting, they discussed issues related to public safety and the administration of justice, areas that, he affirmed, should be a priority in Mexico. He added that if he were to lead the Mexican government, he would adopt a strategy similar to Bukele’s.
“While talking with President Bukele, I told him that if I were President of Mexico, my government’s number one priority would be the same as his: to declare war on criminals and use the full force of the State to immediately restore order in the country, with the goal of giving Mexican families a life of peace.”
Likewise, the owner of TV Azteca stated that his main objective would be to offer security and equal justice to all citizens, as well as to demand results from public officials, just as he does with his employees in the business world.
“I would seek to provide security and equal justice to all Mexicans. Obviously, I would demand results from the cabinet secretaries, just as I demand them from my employees. I believe a country should be run like a company run by someone else, to whom results, not excuses, must be given,” he said.
He asserted that “good government must also ensure that roads are safe, streets are well-lit and free of potholes, and that people can work in peace to prosper.”
