Improvements to mobility in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG) and Puerto Vallarta continue to progress.

The Jalisco Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP) confirmed that the two new southbound lanes on the final section of the Guadalajara-Puerto Vallarta Short Route, a key road corridor that connects directly to the Las Juntas Interchange, will be open to traffic in approximately 10 days.

This partial opening is part of a larger project that is currently 85% complete and has been a long-standing demand to expedite traffic to the coast.

The ongoing project includes the construction of a two-lane side lane along a 900-meter stretch, a section that is already showing visible progress. SIOP explained that the water and sewer lines and a storm drain are already installed in this area, essential elements to ensure the project’s durability and reduce the risk of water accumulation or structural damage.

Likewise, the work is progressing into its final phase. However, some minor work remains to be completed in the coming days. Among these, the agency noted the completion of a retaining wall, the installation of a valve box, and the continuation of sidewalk construction. These additional elements do not impede vehicular traffic, which is why the lanes will be opened as soon as they are finished.

Despite this remaining work, the SIOP reiterated its intention to improve traffic conditions in the region as soon as possible.

This progress will allow traffic to flow more smoothly along a corridor that, especially during holiday seasons, tends to experience significant congestion.

It should be noted that, once this section is open, the complementary works will continue until the project is fully completed, resulting in a completely renovated, safe, and functional roadway.
