88.98% of the patients who have tested positive for this viral disease are concentrated in La Paz, a situation that may be due to various factors, according to Health Secretary Ana Luisa Guluarte.

The extraordinary rains brought by the hurricane season are a major contributing factor, as this natural phenomenon leads to an increase in cases due to the proliferation of mosquitoes in neighborhoods.

For this reason, authorities are emphasizing the importance of maintaining clean yards to prevent objects around homes from becoming breeding grounds for potential mosquitoes.

Likewise, to counteract the situation, they have focused on reinforcing fumigation efforts, doubling the number of times units visit the neighborhoods with the highest incidence in the state capital.

The Wolbachia project has also been implemented, a biological control method to prevent the proliferation of the virus and the mosquitoes that transmit it. This is already being used as a model in other parts of the country, according to authorities.

It is worth noting that, compared to 2024, the incidence rate in 2025 remains below the average. Last year more than 2,600 cases were registered, in a scenario in which the municipality of Los Cabos concentrated more than 90% of the cases.
