Christmas and New Year’s haven’t even passed yet, and we’re already thinking about 2026. Besides the World Cup, Mexico City is already gearing up for its traditional lineup of themed festivals; one of them being Candelaria. That’s why we recommend letting your best friend know that the Coffee, Chocolate, and Tamale Festival is returning to the capital—with free admission! Here are the details:
This January 31st and February 1st, Jalapa 38, in the Roma Norte neighborhood of Mexico City, will be filled with flavor, love, and tradition with the 2026 Coffee, Chocolate, and Tamale Festival, an event that celebrates the best of Mexican gastronomy with a romantic and fun touch.
Taking advantage of the arrival of Candelaria—a time when tamales take center stage on every table—and the start of the month of love and friendship, this festival combines two irresistible reasons: delicious food and celebrating affection in all its forms.
One of the biggest draws will be the chance to participate in a symbolic wedding for just $250.00 pesos, where attendees can marry their partner, their best friend, or even their crush.
The package includes a borrowed wedding dress, a wedding certificate, and special decorations to create an unforgettable and humorous moment. It’s the perfect way to celebrate love without formalities, but with plenty of style.
More than 60 vendors and the best tamales in town
The Candelaria Festival will bring together more than 60 vendors with a wide variety of traditional and gourmet tamales, as well as a culinary tour full of sweet, savory, and spicy flavors.
Among the treats to be enjoyed are:
Artisanal coffee
Chocolates and desserts
Mezcal
Baked goods and jams
Salsas, liqueurs, and much more
It’s important to note that the event aims to create a warm and festive atmosphere where the public can enjoy the tamale tradition, discover new culinary projects, and celebrate love in all its forms.
