The Secretary of Tourism and Culture for the municipal government of Taxco de Alarcón, Alejandro Villarejo Hernández, announced that the culture and history of the municipalities of Ixcateopan de Cuauhtémoc, Iguala de la Independencia, and this colonial city will form the “Three Mexicos” tourist route.

The local governments of these three municipalities, located in the northern part of Guerrero state, signed an agreement with the head of the Federal Tourism Secretariat, Josefina Rodríguez, during her visit in August to promote the “Three Mexicos Route.”

This agreement seeks to strengthen tourism promotion in the region by combining its colonial, independence-era, and pre-Hispanic attractions to diversify the tourism offerings.

Villarejo Hernández revealed that the official launch as an international tourism product will take place at the FITUR tourism fair in Madrid, Spain, in January.

“The Three Mexicos Route will showcase pre-Hispanic Mexico in Ixcateopan de Cuauhtémoc, colonial Mexico in Taxco, and will culminate with independent Mexico in Iguala, the birthplace of the national flag.”

This route is already being designed for international promotion, and the governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pineda, will present this tourist route at the 2026 Tianguis Turístico, which will be held in Acapulco for its 50th edition.

This historical route aims to consolidate the region as a major tourist destination, diversify its offerings, and attract more visitors.
