The state government, through the Institute of Migration and International Liaison (IMEI), presented the strategy for the 2025 Migrant Caravan, which will take place on December 17 and 18 with the participation of more than a thousand vehicles. The goal is to guarantee a safe return for residents of San Luis Potosí who travel from the United States for the holiday season.

The operation involves coordination among federal, state, and municipal agencies, which will participate in joint actions providing support, information, and roadside assistance. The caravan is scheduled to depart from Brownsville, Texas, on December 18 at 6:00 a.m., entering through Matamoros, Tamaulipas, and traveling to San Luis Potosí and other states in the country.

The head of the IMEI, Luis Enrique Hernández Segura, reported that the program will include medical care, legal guidance, and information booths to support migrants during their journey. He stated that the objective is to offer safe conditions to those returning to visit their families during the holiday season.

During the presentation of the plan, mayors and representatives from 30 municipalities participated, including Villa de Pozos, considered one of the main points of entry for remittances and a destination for migrant families from San Luis Potosí.

Hernández Segura emphasized that the operation has been strengthened in terms of logistics and reach to guarantee ongoing support and assistance to the migrants returning to the state, with the collaboration of security, health, and civil protection institutions.

The official reaffirmed that the Migrant Caravan is becoming a consolidated initiative for supporting and connecting with the San Luis Potosí community abroad, which maintains its roots and trust in local authorities during its annual return.
