The head of the Secretariat of Sustainable Development (SEDESU), Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, stated that Querétaro is working to create conditions of certainty that will maintain investor confidence. He made these remarks during his participation in the event “The Future is Being Built in Querétaro,” organized by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Mexico, Central-Western Delegation (CAMESCOM).
Del Prete Tercero explained that, over the last decade, the state has developed a management model focused on promoting economic growth through policies of environmental sustainability and quality of life. He noted that this combination of factors reduces uncertainty for companies seeking to establish themselves in the region.
“In Querétaro, we want investment, but we want all that investment to be made with a view to what we will leave for the future. That is why we are laying the foundations for the present with what is to come (…) because we cannot depend solely on manufacturing,” he affirmed.
The president of CAMESCOM Mexico, Antonio Basagoiti Pastor, acknowledged the work done in the state to consolidate its position as one of the most important investment hubs in the country. He emphasized that Querétaro is perceived by European and Spanish companies as a reliable destination due to its security, political stability, infrastructure, quality of life, and technological specialization.
“It is a place to invest, and I know that part of this is due to the Secretary, who is a benchmark among the secretaries of economic development in the country,” he noted.
During the meeting, the Economic and Trade Counselor of the Spanish Embassy in Mexico, María Peña Mateos, indicated that both nations work under a framework of shared responsibility to generate mutual prosperity. She added that Querétaro remains one of the preferred destinations for Spanish investment.
For his part, Carlos Ortiz, vice president of the Central-Western Delegation of CAMESCOM, highlighted that SEDESU’s work has contributed to business growth at different levels and acknowledged the state’s efforts to finalize the direct Querétaro-Madrid flight, which strengthens the state’s international connectivity.
