Five foreign nationals were rescued by members of the Mexican Navy (SEMAR), acting as the Coast Guard, after being reported missing while recreational diving off the northern tip of Espíritu Santo Island in Baja California Sur.
The operation began when an emergency report was received regarding the disappearance of the group of divers, immediately activating the maritime search and rescue protocols established by the naval authority.
Naval Operation: Strategic Coordination for the Rescue in La Paz
The successful rescue was carried out by members of the Fourth Naval Zone in coordination with the La Paz Naval Search, Rescue, and Maritime Surveillance Station (ENSAR) and the La Paz Naval Air Base (BASANPAZ).
To locate the five foreign nationals, an aircraft from BASANPAZ was strategically deployed, essential for the aerial search, as well as a Defender-class vessel from ENSAR La Paz for the water rescue. Following a coordinated operation, naval personnel located the missing divers and ensured their safe transfer.
The five rescued individuals were assisted and immediately taken to the facilities of the Fourth Naval Zone, where they received comprehensive medical attention and evaluation from naval medical personnel.
It was confirmed that the foreign divers were in stable condition and in good general health. Since they did not require hospitalization, they chose to leave on their own.
For maritime emergencies, the Fourth Naval Zone provides the telephone number 612 122 6513. Additionally, the Mexican Navy shares the toll-free number 800 627 4621 (800 MARINA1), available 24 hours a day.
