That is, on average, one death by femicide or homicide was recorded every 14 hours.
This makes it the most violent week of 2025, which is now entering its final stage.
What is striking is that 80% of these incidents occurred in the interior of the state.
In the case of intentional homicides and femicides, the alleged perpetrators were under the influence of alcohol and drugs, as stated in the authorities’ report.
Previously, the third week of April had been considered the most violent of the year, registering 9 deaths, although six of these were due to traffic accidents.
What is undeniable is that the year began with an event that shook society: the femicide of an elderly woman and the lynching of her attacker in Tekit, and it is ending with the femicide of a 12-year-old girl in Izamal, who was raped and murdered in cold blood by her stepfather inside her home; in both cases, the perpetrators were under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
In other words, increasingly violent events are occurring in Yucatán, largely due to high drug consumption, which authorities have been unable to curb.
