Armed attack at Tijuana bar leaves two dead and three arrested

54

Two people died early this morning after an armed attack inside the Siete Copas bar in Tijuana. The three alleged perpetrators have been arrested, according to authorities.

The establishment is located on Boulevard Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, at the corner of Avenida 34 Sur, one of the busiest streets in the city.

Initial reports indicate that patrons inside the bar fled after the attack began, while some managed to report it to the authorities.

The establishment has security cameras and guards who monitor the entrance, but the attackers threatened them with weapons and forced their way in.

Paramedics from the Red Cross arrived at the scene and pronounced a woman, approximately 35 years old, dead. A man was also seriously injured and transported to a hospital, where he died minutes later.
Spent shell casings, presumably from an assault rifle, were found at the scene. The weapon used was found in the bar’s parking lot after the assailants dropped it during their escape.

Following a chase, authorities arrested three men believed to be connected to the attack.

The State Attorney General’s Office is in charge of the investigation.

This is not the first time attacks have occurred inside and outside this bar, as it is located in an area contested by rival drug gangs.
