In the heart of the December holiday season, the magical city of San Cristóbal de Las Casas offers not only colonial landscapes, cobblestone streets, historical heritage, and a climate that dips to freezing temperatures, but also an attraction that delights the palate: its traditional cuisine.
With the arrival of these holidays, tourists and visitors can enjoy emblematic dishes from the Jovel Valley, such as marinated pork loin and tuna Vizcaina-style, prepared by Chef Rogelio Zagoya of the Tuluc restaurant, who aims to offer an authentic culinary experience during the end of the year.
In an interview, the chef explained that during the month of December, the restaurant offers locals and tourists a gastronomic menu designed for family enjoyment, without spending long hours in the kitchen. “For this holiday season, we have marinated pork loin, a signature dish of the Tuluc restaurant, and tuna Vizcaina-style, prepared with traditional ingredients and our distinctive seasoning,” he noted.
Zagoya emphasized that the dishes are available for takeout, with generous portions, affordable prices, and special discounts for families ordering complete four-course meals, despite the general increase in ingredient costs. “We’ve kept prices low so families can enjoy themselves without any hassle,” he stated.
He also mentioned that they have options for children, such as beef fillet with a fresh salad, as well as meals that include pork, pasta, and apple salad, perfect for holiday celebrations.
Finally, the chef invited tourists and residents alike to enjoy this culinary offering, available at any time of day, and to complement their visit with the flavors that represent the rich cultural and culinary heritage of San Cristóbal, thus enhancing the tourist experience during the holiday season.
