The lie of poverty reduction and the rise of the middle class under the 4T in Mexico

2

If you earn 306 pesos (US$17) a day, you’re already considered middle class (9,100 pesos a month).
President Claudia Sheinbaum revealed that, according to the World Bank, in Mexico, those who earn US$17 a day (306 pesos) are considered “middle class.”
However, INEGI (the National Institute of Statistics and Geography) states that for a person to belong to the “middle class” group, they must earn 20,000 pesos a month or more, in addition to basic services, decent housing, and the possibility of vacations.
“Key Indicators of the Middle Class (INEGI):
Income: A household with an income of around US$20,000 to US$23,000 per month.
Employment: They generally have stable employment, as professionals, technicians, or office workers.” Housing and Services: Access to basic services, decent housing, and the possibility of taking vacations.
The INEGI data is precise and conclusive. It leaves no room for maneuver in a debate on the subject. The government is trying to sell a false idea, claiming that 13 million poor people are now “middle class.” And the error is even more serious if they support this theory by claiming that they have achieved this through various scholarships. Scholarships are social support programs sustained by public debt. The same debt that could lead the country to collapse at any moment. Mexico is experiencing a great lie, as economic productivity has been diminished as a result of the economic policies of the 4T government, which have stagnated economic growth.
