During the early hours of this morning, a large emergency response was deployed to the Santa Ana Tepetitlán neighborhood after residents reported cries for help that broke the night’s silence.

Upon arriving at the intersection of Primavera and Francisco I. Madero streets, officers from the Zapopan municipal police located a man between 30 and 35 years old with visible signs of violence.

A bright orange luxury sports car was parked next to a palm tree with its door and trunk open.

How did the assault and kidnapping of the man occur?

The victim, whose identity was not released, had multiple contusions on various parts of his body, an obvious fracture in one of his arms, and a penetrating wound that was initially suspected to be a gunshot wound.

However, after a preliminary examination by paramedics from the Las Águilas Green Cross, it was indicated that the injury could also have been caused by a sharp object, such as an ice pick, a fact that will be determined at the hospital.

According to the victim’s statements, the events began in the municipality of Chapala. The man told authorities that he was drinking alcohol when he was intercepted and kidnapped by unknown individuals.

His kidnappers forced him into a vehicle, where he was brutally beaten and tortured with a board before being taken to the municipality of Zapopan.

Finally, the assailants abandoned him in a brushy area on Primavera Street, just two blocks from a private hospital. Municipal police officers secured the area and conducted a thorough search for evidence at the site of his release; however, the results were negative, as no shell casings or objects related to the attack were found at the location.

The man was rushed to the Cruz Verde medical unit for specialized care. The Public Prosecutor’s Office was notified of the case to open an investigation and clarify the events that occurred from the kidnapping in the river area until his discovery in the former Villa Maicera.
