With the participation of the candidates for the crowns of Mazatlán’s biggest celebration in 2026, a beach cleanup will take place this Saturday, January 10.

This was announced by the Mazatlán Institute of Culture, Tourism, and Art, which indicated that the 2026 Mazatlán International Carnival kicks off its activities with a clear and responsible message: the port’s most important festival is also built on caring for the environment and protecting our coastal ecosystem.

To that end, they highlighted that, starting at 7:00 a.m., the Fisherman’s Monument will be the meeting point for the “Beach Cleanup” activity, which is also open to any citizen who wants to contribute to environmental protection.

In a press release, the municipal agency indicated that the following candidates for Carnival Queen will participate: Joanna Castillo, Monserrat Zamudio, Marbella Medina, Marbella Rivera, Anahí Esparza, Karely Tirado, Mariana Guerrero, Danya Moreno, and Andrea García.

Also present will be the candidates for King of Joy: Víctor Joel, Romeo Antonio, Guillermo Orrante, and Javier Osuna “El Chiras.”

Young girls Eileen Cruz, Noelia Vega, and Elisa Gutiérrez, who are vying for the children’s crown of the King Momo festivities, will also participate.

The Institute of Culture mentioned that this event is part of the “Mazatlán, I Want You Clean” program, launched by the Municipal Government under Mayor Estrella Palacios Domínguez.

It’s worth noting that the cleanup will be carried out in coordination with the Mazatlán Beach Management and Operations Authority, strengthening the collaborative work between institutions and the carnival community to foster a culture of conservation, environmental responsibility, and respect for nature.

Why will the Carnival queen candidates participate in a beach cleanup?

The Mazatlán Institute of Culture indicated that this activity underscores that the sea and beaches are an essential part of Mazatlán’s identity; caring for the sea is caring for Mazatlán, and the Carnival celebrates this with awareness.

What are the dates for the 2026 Mazatlán Carnival, “Arriba la Tambora” (Long Live the Drum)?

The biggest celebration for the people of Mazatlán will take place from February 12th to 17th.
