The Secretary of Tourism, Daniel Altafi Valladares, emphasized that as the Cuernavaca Convention Center project progresses, work will also begin on the new Morelos Convention Center, located in Xochitepec, which has generated significant interest in becoming a hub for the audiovisual industry.
“Regardless of the fact that the executive project for the new Cuernavaca Convention Center is already underway, until construction is well advanced, we will consider options for the current Morelos Convention Center. There is already interest, particularly from the audiovisual industry, in making it a space that strengthens post-production and creative industry activities,” commented Daniel Altafi.
He also mentioned that Churubusco Studios in Mexico City has expressed interest in establishing an extension of their facilities in Morelos, offering all the services related to film production, especially editing and post-production.
“The idea of making it an extension of Estudios Churubusco is a proposal that is moving forward, but, well, the possibility of other developments is also open. The building is well-constructed, has good architecture, and since we started, we have maintained it to ensure it is in optimal condition.”
He emphasized that the Morelos Convention Center continues to operate normally and is generating its own revenue, as it is established through a trust and is under the purview of the Morelos State Tourism Secretariat.
“It is important to move forward with the new Convention Center in Cuernavaca, and then the Investment Council, headed by Technical Secretary Iván Elizondo, will begin to consider the Morelos Convention Center as a potential investment, so that new investors can take it into account, because it is already a very well-developed infrastructure located there, on the Mexico-Acapulco highway.”
Finally, he highlighted the level and quality of this space, since, in December 2025, it hosted the STS Forum Latam 2025, an international event that brought prestige to the state of Morelos.
