The average daily wage in 2025 saw the most significant annual increases in the states of Tamaulipas, Baja California, and Tlaxcala, which experienced rises exceeding 9% in the wages of workers insured by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).
In the north of the country, Tamaulipas showed the most substantial growth in average wages, registering a 9.3% increase, rising from a daily wage of 603.32 pesos in 2024 to 659.13 pesos in 2025.
Baja California ranked second with a 9.2% increase, going from 659.85 to 720.66 pesos between those years. In third place is Tlaxcala, where the average salary increased by 9.1%, rising from 472.35 to 515.40 pesos between 2024 and 2025.
Also among the top states for growth were Sinaloa with an 8.9% increase and Chihuahua with 8.8%, occupying fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Meanwhile, the most modest increases were identified in Campeche, which registered a 0.1% annual rise in the daily wage, from 649.38 to 650.08 pesos. Similarly, in Tabasco, the salary increase was around 3.6%, rising from 536.55 to 555.74 pesos. In Hidalgo, the increase was 5.7%, climbing from 493.11 to 521.08 pesos.
The fourth lowest increase was in Mexico City, where the average salary rose by 5.8%, from 724.64 to 766.50 pesos. Fifth was the State of Mexico, with a 6.4% increase, as wages climbed from 531.92 to 566.21 pesos.
Among the 32 federal entities, the average salary increased by 7.3%, rising from 582.08 pesos in 2024 to 624.77 pesos in 2025, an increase of 42.69 pesos. This increase was more modest than the 9.6% rise seen the previous year (between 2023 and 2024).
In 21 states, salaries increased above the average during 2025, while in the other 11, the increase was less than 7.3%.
When comparing the 32 states, only two had an average daily wage exceeding 700 pesos: Mexico City, which ended 2025 with an average daily wage of 766.50 pesos.
Second was Baja California, where insured workers registered an average daily wage of 720.66 pesos.
Following in third place, Nuevo León had wages below 700 pesos, with an average daily wage of 683.44 pesos. Querétaro ranked fourth, with an average daily wage of 677.33 pesos. And Tamaulipas stood out in fifth place with an average daily wage of 659.13 pesos.
In addition to these five states, Chihuahua (653.79 pesos), Campeche (650.08 pesos), and San Luis Potosí (629.86 pesos) were among the eight states that exceeded the national average wage.
At the bottom of the list, the lowest daily wages were recorded in Sinaloa, which ended 2025 with a daily income of 490.68 pesos, followed by Nayarit with 497.79 pesos, Durango with 503.33 pesos, Oaxaca with 506.63 pesos, Guerrero with 506.80 pesos, and Michoacán with an average of 513.05 pesos.
