While tanks surround Mexico City and Sheinbaum attempts to negotiate with Trump, an unexpected internal conflict has just opened up. Washington, D.C., January 13, 2026. Ricardo Salinas Pliego, “Uncle Richie,” appeared at the OAS headquarters to formally denounce the Mexican State.
THE MESSAGE IS DEVASTATING: He didn’t go to ask for a favor. He went to accuse Claudia Sheinbaum of “Political Persecution” and “Systematic Violation of Human Rights.”
THE 4 ACCUSATIONS THAT PROVE TRUMP RIGHT: In his complaint before the IACHR, Salinas Pliego describes exactly what the United States needs to hear to justify its intervention:
Fiscal Terrorism: He accuses the government of using the Tax Administration Service (SAT) as a weapon of “political punishment,” not for tax collection.
Media Censorship: He denounces attempts to silence TV Azteca and critics (censorship).
Judicial Collapse: He claims that the Judicial Reform left citizens “defenseless.” In Mexico, there are no longer judges, only executioners of the regime.
Criminalization of Truth: The government persecutes those who think differently.
THE MASTERPLAY (OR TREASON, DEPENDING ON YOUR PERSPECTIVE): By doing this in Washington, Salinas Pliego is not only defending himself. He is handing Donald Trump and the OAS the perfect argument: “Look, even the biggest businesspeople say that Mexico is a lawless tyranny. Intervention is not aggression, it’s liberation.”
THE FINAL READING: Sheinbaum’s government is becoming increasingly isolated.
From the outside: The U.S. is threatening it.
From the inside: The oligarchy is denouncing it.
Among the people: Fear is growing.
If the owner of Grupo Salinas has to flee to international organizations because there is no justice in Mexico… What hope does the average citizen have? Ricardo Salinas has just rung the bell in Washington: The rule of law in Mexico is dead. And the vultures to the north have already heard the warning.
