To boost the Palm Sunday Artisan Market in Uruapan, a national outreach strategy and infrastructure improvements will be implemented in 2026. These actions will directly benefit the artisans, as well as the national and international tourists who visit the region, reported the Michoacán Ministry of Tourism (Sectur).
Thanks to the coordination between the federal government and the municipality, this space will have new infrastructure and a roof. The improvements aim to highlight its essence as an epicenter of art, identity, and culture, driven by a solid national outreach strategy that will stimulate the region’s economic development.
The Palm Sunday Artisan Market will take place in the Historic Center from March 28 to April 12. The heart of the city will be the meeting point for tourists from around the world and new audiences seeking to immerse themselves in the tradition, art, and identity that emanates from the “Pearl of the Cupatizio.”
This project is part of the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice, with the support of the Federal Ministry of Tourism. Additionally, Uruapan’s inclusion in the Community Tourism Experiences program was announced, through which artisans will receive equipment, technical assistance, and a comprehensive promotional strategy.
The Ministry of Tourism will soon release the schedule of activities and the comprehensive promotional plan, which includes a strategic presence at international trade fairs and in Mexico City, with the aim of strengthening the state’s image.
