A shrimp boat caught fire Monday afternoon at the dock near the Gabriel Leyva neighborhood of Mazatlán.
According to reports from the scene, the fire and subsequent explosion occurred while welding work was being carried out on the boat when a spark fell onto the diesel tank.

The preliminary report indicates that at least three people were injured, two of whom presented symptoms of smoke inhalation and minor injuries.
Municipal Civil Protection, Mazatlán Red Cross, Navy, Municipal Police, and Mazatlán Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire.
The operation began around 12:30 p.m. and continued until 2:00 p.m.
