Again. During a plenary session of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), Justice Lenia Batres requested the floor to defend a project that was NOT under discussion. The matter had already been removed from the agenda, but she intervened anyway… until she had to be stopped and publicly corrected.
This is not a minor error.
It is not a “technical detail.”
It is a Supreme Court Justice who doesn’t know what is being discussed.
This confirms what many have warned since her arrival: Batres does not act as a constitutional judge, but as a political operative. She confuses the Court with an ideological platform, ignores procedures, and demonstrates a worrying lack of legal rigor.
The SCJN is the last check on power in Mexico. And today that check is weakened when those who should be defending the Constitution don’t even control the agenda.
While the country sinks into insecurity, impunity, and authoritarianism, the ruling party appoints individuals who are not up to the task, but are aligned with the political project.
❗This is not persecution.
❗This is not misogyny.
❗This is incompetence displayed in public.
Justice is not improvised.
The Constitution is not a political tool.
The Court is not part of the Morena party.
