An inter-institutional group comprised of representatives from all three levels of government conducted inspections of nightclubs, bars, and cantinas in the city of San Cristóbal de las Casas to detect mismanagement, ensure proper documentation, and investigate the sale of narcotics in these establishments. Early this morning, they suspended operations at a nightclub located in the southern part of the colonial city.
As part of an inter-institutional operation, municipal and state authorities, along with personnel from the army, the National Guard, and Civil Protection, among other government agencies, carried out supervisory patrols in various bars throughout the city during the early hours of Friday morning, reported Gustavo Adolfo Sánchez Mendoza, Director of Municipal Public Services. He added that the operations will continue on an ongoing basis.
He indicated that these actions are being carried out in the city as part of the agreements reached at security meetings, with the objective of strengthening coordination among agencies, preserving public order, and verifying that establishments comply with current regulations, particularly regarding operating hours and health and safety protocols.
Finally, the authorities said that, as a result of these inspection efforts, the temporary suspension of activities of the nightclub “Mia Mama” was determined, after irregularities related to the operating hours and health guidelines were detected, and the corresponding seals were placed in accordance with the applicable regulations.
