Last Wednesday, January 28, as a result of intelligence work and inter-institutional coordination, members of the Mexican Navy (SEMAR) and the Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC) arrested Jesús Iván “N,” alias “El Chino Arce,” in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora.

The individual, identified by state authorities as a high-profile criminal, was considered a priority target and one of the main instigators of violence in the region.

Under this alias, Jesús Iván “N” operated as the head of the “Los Salazar” criminal cell, which is why he was actively being sought by the Sonora State Attorney General’s Office (FGJES).

Arrest warrants and links to the Sinaloa Cartel
There were five outstanding arrest warrants against him for various high-impact crimes, including homicide and criminal association. Furthermore, he was the subject of an active wanted poster with a 500,000-peso reward for information leading to his capture.

According to information confirmed by authorities, this criminal organization has a confirmed presence in the state of Sonora and is historically identified as a criminal group linked to the Sinaloa Cartel, particularly in recent years to the faction known as “Los Chapitos.”

However, journalistic and security reports indicated that Los Salazar maintains armed disputes with other criminal groups, including sectors linked to this faction, for territorial control of the southern part of the state, primarily in the municipality of Cajeme.

In this context, Jesús Iván “N” allegedly served as the head of hitmen and operational leader of an armed cell, with direct responsibility for carrying out attacks, territorial control, and confrontations with rival organizations in Ciudad Obregón and surrounding areas.

He is accused of committing multiple high-impact crimes. According to the investigation files, he faces charges of aggravated homicide, attempted homicide, aggravated kidnapping, and criminal association, committed between 2024 and 2025.

The most significant crime attributed to “El Chino Arce” is his alleged participation in an armed attack that occurred during a quinceañera celebration in the early morning hours of December 29, 2023, at a residence in the Cajeme neighborhood of Ciudad Obregón. The attack left eight people dead and 26 others injured.

This event, classified by authorities as an octuple homicide, generated a strong social impact and positioned Jesús Iván “N” as one of the main targets of law enforcement in Sonora.
